Seeking a brighter future for our children – Diagnostic challenges and implications for support

On 11 May 2018 Adoption UK Scotland facilitated a one day conference focused around fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). The key note speaker was Dr Raja Mukherjee from the National FASD Clinic in Surrey. He was joined on the main stage by Dr Sarah Brown, paediatric consultant from Ayrshire and Arran who now leads the NSH Ayrshire and Arran Fetal Alcohol Advisory & Support Team; Lee Harvey-Heath, founder of FASD Devon and Cornwall and chair of the National FASD Advisory Committee (UK) who discusses his experiences growing up with undiagnosed FASD and gives insights into the kinds of challenges he faces as an adult with FASD; Dr Chris Steer and Dr Patricia Jackson who spoke about the development of diagnosis pathway.
