To mark Father’s Day on 16 June, adoptees describe just how much their adoptive dads mean to them.

Polly
“My dad is my everything. He’s my rock, my role model, my best friend.”

Alison on her dad Jack
“I was adopted in 1964 by my wonderful parents. I consider myself to have had a very privileged life and given many opportunities that I would not have otherwise had. My Dad died 5 years ago, aged 89, and I miss him every single day. Father’s Day is one of the hardest days of the year for me. My Dad was an absolute treasure - a real gentleman and my hero. Reliable on all counts and a stand in Dad to my daughter too. I am so lucky to have been adopted. Love you 'our Jack'.”

Emma
“My mum and dad adopted me at the age of six weeks old, I got the best mum and dad ever! Sadly we lost my mum back in February this year. We are all heart broken, she was the most amazing mum. I feel so lucky to have spent 28 years with both my mum and dad, now it’s me and my dad Malcolm and my two beautiful boys. I don’t know where I’d be without him. He’s amazing and made me the person I am today. We love him so much.”
