Sue Armstrong Brown, CEO of Adoption UK, has announced she is stepping down after 5 years in the role. Since joining Adoption UK in 2017, Dr Armstrong Brown has championed the interests of the adoption community, growing the charity’s activities around three pillars: connection, support and influence. Under her leadership, Adoption UK has doubled in size, enabling it to significantly increase its work across all four nations of the UK. Sue originated the flagship Adoption Barometer, the only annual UK-wide report on the experiences of the adoption community, pioneered developments in the charity’s unique peer support services and secured lasting improvements in policy and practice for families affected by the impacts of early childhood trauma. She led the development of the charity’s Raising Our Voice strategy, with its focus on strengthening Adoption UK’s role as an advocate. The Trustees would like to thank Sue for her significant contributions to Adoption UK and the wider adoption community and wish her well for the future.

Trustees will start the recruitment for Adoption UK’s next CEO, who will work with them to build a vision for the next phase of the charity’s support for young people, adopted adults and the wider adoption community across all four nations of the UK.
