Name: Rob

Job Title: AUK Director of Membership

I’ve been a parent since: Our boys have been home since July 2014.

  1. What’s the most special part of being a parent?
Getting to share all the different milestones, the teeth coming out, teaching them to ride their bikes, skip – and sharing in their  successes too. Like winning medals at sports day, or standing up in achievement assemblies for doing a good piece of work

  2. What's the biggest myth about LGBT+ parenting?
That two dads can’t parent – being asked ‘which one is the wife/ mum’ really winds me up!

  3. What do you wish you had been told at the start of your parenting journey?
That sometimes the system isn’t built for same sex parents, but that doesn’t mean to say you can’t break the system to make it work for you! (long story I’m happy to share sometime!😊)

  4. What’s the one thing you want your children to know?
That they are loved and cared for. That their past doesn’t have to influence the outcome of their future and that being adopted doesn’t make them ‘worse’ it makes them different and that difference can be their strongest asset!
