The research uses the voices of children and adults who have left care to give us insights into what is and is not helpful and effective when talking about the past. Difficult Conversations was a Research project carried out from from 2019 to 2021 by Alison and the University of Bristol with partners in the adoption and fostering world. They explored the problems faced by parents, carers and professionals in having conversations with children about their very traumatic pasts. In collaboration with them she then wrote training to help us all have better conversations with our kids. In the webinar, after a brief introduction Alison will show some of the key training materials she has created and help participants with specific questions and situations.
