Scotland


Adoption UK in Scotland operates from our office base in Edinburgh, providing information, support and advice to those parenting children who are no longer able to live with their birth families, across Scotland. Our services are provided through our helpline, online support systems, training workshops and support groups. 

We work closely with voluntary adoption agencies and local authorities across Scotland. If you are based in Scotland and are interested in adopting a child please contact us for information and advice about the routes to adoption in your area.

Barnardo's Scotland Adoption

A post-adoption service offering advice, support and counselling to everyone affected by adoption. Offers a confidential service recognising the lifelong implications for all involved, including adoptees, birth parents and relatives and prospective adopters.

Birthlink

Provides a range of services to help individuals and families affected by adoption, whp have a Scottish connection, including the Adoption Contact Register for Scotland.

Capability - support for people with disabilities

Works with disabled people of all ages and their families and carers throughout Scotland, providing support services as well as campaigning for disabled people's rights.

Scottish independent advice and information service for additional support for learning (special educational needs).

Information on contact and tracing, including how to obtain certificates of adoption.

Children in Scotland

National agency for voluntary, statutory and professional organisations and individuals working with children and their families in Scotland.

One Parent Families in Scotland

Provides support and information to lone parent families, and runs the Lone Parent Helpline - a free, independent helpline for lone parents and anyone affected by the issues surrounding one parent families.

ParentLine Scotland

Runs a helpline for anyone caring for a child in Scotland, also provides factsheets and publications.

Schoolhouse Home Education Association

Information and support for parents/carers and young people on home education in Scotland.

Scottish Child Law Centre

Helps children and young people, their families and carers, and professionals working for and with children by providing advice and information through an advice line, email and text services.

Kindred

Provides advice and information on services available to children with additional support needs and their carers.
