About Adoption UK

Everyone deserves the chance to thrive.

Adoption UK is the leading charity for adopted and care experienced people, adoptive families, and others parenting children who can’t live with their birth parents. Set up in 1971, we’ll be here for adopted and care experienced children, adults and their families for as long as they need us.

Our vision

A society in which every child and young person who is unable to grow up with their birth parents, can thrive in childhood and has an equal chance of a bright future as an adult.

Our purpose

To secure the right support at the right time for children and young people who are unable to grow up with their birth parents, from childhood into adulthood.

Our strategy

AUK’s organisational strategy focuses on empowering
adopted and care experienced people, adoptive families, and others parenting children who can’t live with their birth parents.

Our impact

Our Impact Report shows a sample of the work that Adoption UK have carried out over the year and the impact that work has had on our community and policy and practice in the UK

What we do

We bring people together within active and supportive communities, so that lifelong connections can be made.
We campaign for lifelong support, alongside those whose lives are affected by adoption and care experience.

We provide information, advice and learning on a range of subjects that impact our community, including early childhood trauma, education, kinship care and FASD.
We provide support through our therapeutic services, specialist community groups and peer support, helping people wherever they are on their journey.
