Clare is an adoptive mum to a 19 year old who she adopted when he was 7 years old.
Clare is often asked if it was much harder adopting an “older” child. She doesn't think it is but she knows no different. Her son was able to understand a bit more about the process and talk about the type of mum and dad he wanted. She still had so many firsts with him including him learning to ride a bike, going on a plane and his first football match.
Rob is adoptive dad to two boys. He and his husband became parents 8 years ago, their two bundles of joy (now larger than life teenagers) were seven and four years old at the time of placement. There were added complications in the journey to Rob's children finding a forever family - they were older than the average child waiting to be matched and part of a larger sibling group - subsequently they were left waiting in foster care for almost three years.
