Fundraise The Big Give 2020 has been a tough year for many and now, more than ever, adoptive families around the UK need our support. Following a week (1-8 Dec) packed full of fundraising activities, events and a virtual Christmas Market, we are delighted to announce we raised £23,241 (including Gift Aid) in our Big Give Christmas Challenge. What does that mean?It means, thanks to your support, we now have the opportunity to support more adoptive families in the UK. We could not have achieved this without you and we would like to thank every single person who donated, supported, joined in and offered their time and energy to help us surpass our goal. One donation twice the impact! This year, the Dulverton Trust supported us by becoming our Big Give champion. They match funded us up to the sum of £10,000 - and for that we would like to send them a huge thank you. What's still happening? You can still support our winter fundraising efforts: Christmas Marketplace...will allow you to purchase those important gifts for family and friends from the comfort of your sofa whilst making a real difference to small businesses and your favourite charity! Enter our Raffle - to win a beautiful Mulberry handbag worth over £1,000. For just £5 a ticket you could be in with a chance of winning a flawless piece of British design, donated to us by Mulberry themselves. What will the money go towards? Provide more peer mentoring and 1:1 support for parents dealing with challenging behaviours that their children have as a result of past trauma, such as child to parent violence & self-harm. Ensure we have more trained volunteers and staff to facilitate our online forums, providing a safe space for parents to share their feelings with others who understand. The creation of new online groups so families feeling isolated and alone can connect with other adopters, share experiences, chat, feel ‘normal’ welcome and not alone. To be able to answer more calls to our helpline from families in crisis, and a provide specialist call-back service for those who cannot reach us in the day. Be able to regularly deliver new online training such as music therapy sessions, helping parents’ bond with their traumatised children. All this is only possible because of the generosity of people like you, who helped us achieve our Big Give Christmas Challenge of surpassing our £20,000.00 target. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
