Published: 24.04.14

Wanted: A Family of My Own is a new four part documentary series exploring adoption.
Wanted: A Family Of My Own

The series follows prospective adopters and children waiting to be adopted as new families are formed through adoption.

Presented by Nicky Campbell, himself an adoptee, the series follows several different families going through the adoption process. The production team worked closely with eight local authorities over many months to follow the adoption journeys of several would-be parents at various stages of the process.

Commenting on the series, Chief Executive of Adoption UK, Hugh Thornbery said:

"Adoption UK is delighted to see assumptions about who is eligible to adopt being challenged through this series. We hope that Wanted: A Family of My Own will go some way to addressing the shortfall of adopters needed in the UK by raising awareness of adoption to a great number of people. Exploring the intricacies of the adoption process, the programme will give viewers an insight into modern day adoption."

Wanted: A Family of My Own is on Thursdays at 9pm on ITV1: starting 24th April, continuing 1st, 8th, 15th May
