Charity makes popular US book for adoptive parents available in the UK
Published: 22.05.15Adoption UK has become the first UK stockist of popular US parenting book Parenting the Theraplay Way.
Theraplay uses the power of play, laughter and fun to help adopted children bond with their new families. When parents and children play together the very act of engaging each other in this way helps the parent regulate the child’s behaviour and communicate love, joy and safety to the child.
The book includes 214 engaging and fun activities to be played one-on-one and as a family, as well as games you can play while waiting in the car, while you are away, or while simply saying ‘goodbye’.
After running a successful Theraply course for adoptive families we were approached by The Theraplay Institute to see if we would like to become the sole UK stockist of their latest Theraplay work book. A survey of our members, to see if this was a resource they would like us to source, came back with an overwhelmingly positive response.
Adoption UK has had a good working relationship with The Theraplay Institute for many years and we’ve hosted Phyllis Booth, one of their founders, at our annual conference in the past.
You can pre-order your copy of the book now and we will ship it out to you as soon as the stock is in.
The Illinois-based Theraplay Institute has been the international guardian for Theraplay since 1971, and a not-for-profit corporation since 1995.
