Adoption UK statement - Election results 2015
Published: 08.05.15Adoption UK will continue to press the new Government on our lobbying priorities after David Cameron is returned to Downing Street as Prime Minister following the outcome of the General Election.
Hugh Thornbery, our chief executive, said: "Following the outcome of the general election we will be pressing the new Government to continue to commit to funding of the Adoption Support Fund in England, to extend the statutory responsibility of the Virtual School Heads to include children adopted from care and to give them oversight to the use of Pupil Premium money and the development of personal education plans for adopted children.
"We will also press the new Government to fund and implement the CAMHS Taskforce recommendations in vulnerable children which explicitly includes adopted children and to secure the equivalent to Maternity Pay for self-employed adopters."
Mr Thornbery added: "We will continue to lobby the current administrations and main political parties in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to ensure that adopters UK wide gain similar entitlements and benefits to those now experienced by adoptive families in England."
