EJ is an adopter and was previously a volunteer with Adoption UK. She has extensive experience of charity management and leadership, community work and policy advocacy.
Reflecting on her appointment, EJ said: “I am honoured to be given the opportunity to lead Adoption UK – the voice of adopters – in Northern Ireland.
“Adoption UK has an impressive track record of influencing decision-makers at the highest level of government and I’ll be doing my utmost to ensure that continues.
“I would also like to acknowledge the sterling work done by our volunteers. Having spent time as an Adoption UK volunteer myself, I am well aware of the tremendous contribution this committed group makes to the organisation.”
The charity would also like to take this opportunity to thank EJ’s predecessor, Priscilla McLoughlin, for her tireless work and commitment to the organisation during her time in post.
Adoption UK’s chief executive, Dr Sue Armstrong Brown, said: “I would personally like to thank Priscilla for her telling contribution and for leaving a wonderful legacy on which EJ can build.”
She added: “We are so pleased to have recruited someone with EJ’s talents to this pivotal role. Her personal connection to adoption coupled with her considerable experience working in the charitable sector; make EJ the ideal candidate to lead our efforts in Northern Ireland. I wish EJ every success in her new role.”
