So what is the correct response, when at 4am, you discover that your 16 year old son, who is supposed to be at a sleepover, is in fact in the spare bed....with a female!!

Check they have used protection/contraception if not encourage them to visit STD clinic, morning after pill for female.

They certainly are not alone a high percentage of 16 year olds are sexually active assuming that is what they have done.

Ask him if he got condoms?

To be fair, he still had his boxers on!! She is up and seems a nice girl - he is claiming to still be asleep - I suspect he was more embarrassed than me. I'm about to take her home!

Not quite there yet but I know my son had been allowed to share a bed with his girlfriend at her house. Their house, their rules I guess.

Its happened now so you can’t make it unhappen but you can lay down boundaries for the future. Are you happy for them to share a bed? I’m assuming you will have had the safe sex conversation - not just about not getting pregnant!

Awkward!!

I bought all my boys a box of condoms at that age and told them if they were embarrassed about buying more to tell me and Id buy them for them.

I think I should provide some condoms for future use. We did wonder about an extra stocking present - or is that cruel?

He is also sporting a nice hickey for Christmas Day - wonder what the grandparents will say, let alone his sister!

Oooo that was a surprise! I’m sure you’ve done the safe sex message but in case not- the ‘shes On the pill’ seems to be the catch all ‘I don’t wear contraception’ excuse.

I have spent a fair amount of time in the GUM clinics with my AC. But no safe sex is apparent. Eventually blossom had the implant which helped for a time.

We had a packet of condoms in the bathroom cupboard for partridge for ages so he need not be embarrassed at asking. Sadly unopened.

Good point Pluto....have put a packet in his drawer, but will maybe open it.....

I don't think they actually had sex, but I do think its been the right time to have the safe sex chat as he was very blasé about her being on the pill so its would all have been OK. It does sound as though he wouldn't have been her first and the "relationship" seems to have ended after an incident last night.
