Expenses post adoption

Report content

Just wondering-

We are post adoption order and daughter has been home over a year.

She is part of a big family and we agree letter box for parents and siblings yearly. Her brother is in long term foster care and lives some 2.5 hour 300 mile round trip away. We usually stay in a hotel and try to go up twice a year - we always go to them as we don’t want our address known. They 100% appreciate us going there and welcome us all the time. I was just wondering if there would be any allowance from fostering services to pay for any expenses? It certainly helps with her brothers identity and sense of worth (he is 15 years older)

It wouldn’t stop us going. It might infact increase our visits to 3/year. Or at least help with savings and petrol. Just thought would ask.

You can always ask. We are in a similar position with sibling contact but don’t get anything.

Our LO sibling lives a 2 hour drive away. We meet 3 times a year but always arrange a venue half way between the two of us. They usually spend 3/4 hours together and thats enough. Is this a possibility for you?

It is. But we like to go up over night. It’s a lot to say goodbye so we spend the end of one day and beginning of another. Then before we leave we book the next hotel. Goodbyes are easier that way.
