We have been approved! Now the matching process begins. How long on average do people wait for a match please?

We were linkeded within four months in 2014, would have been less if our AD hadn’t had a change is SW , we saw her profile three weeks after approval, matching panel was five months after and intros were seven months after approval.

12 months for us. Once approved our LA announced they only had 7 children waiting for families, so I did all the searching myself. I regularly checked the sites for children and requested an interest in approx. 14 children before we finally found our LO. During that time our LA never once came up with any profiles for us, so it can get disheartening at times, but don't give up.

Congratulations x

Congratulations on being approved. Match identified after 3 months and AD moved in 3 months after that (would have been quicker but matching panels were full). This was 2014. Just been approved for number 2 and again it's been about 3 months. Good luck. The waiting is excruciating!

Approved in March. Match in April (pre birth), placement in November (match was off/on for a while).

It’s a ‘how long is a piece of string ‘ question based upon lots of variables: your matching parameters, your location, your LA or VAs policy on transheritage matching, time of year (matching sometimes slows down dec/jan, and in summer months). These are just a few examples!

Hope to get lucky and get matched with your LO soon!

Congratulations on your approval. It's a wonderful feeling.

We were approved January 16 and linked in May 16. LO came home end August 16. We were lucky I think as it was all fairly quick after approval. Although it didn't feel like that at the time. Good luck

Congratulations on being approved!

We got a phone call last week to say there was a potential match. Our adoption panel meeting is in November - so we are not even approved. They are putting us through the foster panel on Oct 11th so that we can foster the child if the match is confirmed. Our local authority always puts adopters through the foster panel too but normally this is after the adoption panel. It's just so they can start contact with their adopted child earlier on in the process.

It took two years for us, but that included two failed matches that didn't go past appreciation day and a competitive match that we lost out on.

It was a harsh time, but very useful because we spent so much time researching and reading up on the realities of modern adoption...we almost scared ourselves out of the whole thing.

In the end we kept our patience, kept to our criteria, and now, eight months In, we couldn't be happier.

Congratulations on being approved. As everyone has said already it varies so much case by case.

We were approved on 29th July - at matching panel on 30th Sept and Sqk moved in 19th Oct - all in 2013. However we were identified for him before approval and things went fast to get him placed before October half term to avoid respite foster care.
