Adoption UK members in Wales can experience nature up close at our exclusive family events in 2020. Join other adoptive families as we explore local nature, from bats and birds to moths and minibeasts, in a calm and tranquil environment. The events are hosted by experienced staff and volunteers and will include activities suitable for children.

Events are taking place in Conwy (North Wales) and Newport (South Wales) and are free* for Adoption UK members.
Online booking is essential as spaces are limited.
*There may be a small car parking charge at some sites.

Build a Bird Box
Give your garden birds a new home by building a nest box. Find out which birds are most likely to benefit from a nest box before you take your handiwork home. Small hand tools will be used, and children must be supervised when taking part.
Families are welcome to extend their day by exploring the rest of the nature reserve and cafe after the event.

Spring Wildlife Discovery
Take an exclusive guided tour of a stunning North Wales nature reserve and discover a wealth of wildlife. This event includes a variety of activities including bird-watching (binoculars provided) and pond-dipping. Families are welcome to extend their day by exploring the nature reserve and visiting the cafe after the event.

Underwater Minibeasts
Take a dip below the surface and discover a world of minibeasts. Pond-dipping fun for all the family. Experts will be on hand to help identify the creatures you find. Children can also take part in craft activities and take their work home to remind them of their day. Families are welcome to extend their day by exploring the rest of the nature reserve and cafe after the event.

Family Birdsong Walk
Join avian experts on a captivating walk to discover the delights of birdsong. Good footwear and good listening skills are important for this event. Bat Detectives
Join other adoptive families for an evening of bat detecting. Experts will be on hand to help identify the species we see, using bat detectors. This event starts at 7pm and includes hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows over a camp fire. Children can also take part in a craft activity.
