Scotland

Adoption UK in Scotland operates from our office base in Edinburgh, providing information, support and advice to those parenting children who are no longer able to live with their birth families, across Scotland. Our services are provided through our helpline, online support systems, training workshops and support groups.

We work closely with voluntary adoption agencies and local authorities across Scotland. If you are based in Scotland and are interested in adopting a child please contact us for information and advice about the routes to adoption in your area.

We are calling you all together in pursuit of a fair deal for adoptive families in Scotland.

We recently carried out a survey asking our members in Scotland what mattered most to them and their children, so that we can push harder to secure the support families need.

The survey saw members calling for a campaign that concentrated on three critical issues.

As a result we have created a petition calling for John Swinney MSP, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills, to:

1. Give every adoptive family the right to support when they need it
2. Give every adopted child the right to additional support in school
3. Give every adopted child priority status in Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

We need every single one of you to promote this petition to the people you know – family, friends and colleagues. We will do all we can to push the petition out through the agencies that we have contact with, and our broader network of support.

Please sign the petition https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/a-fair-deal-for-adoptive-families-in-scotland-1

We have also created a template letter that you can personalise before sending to your MSP. Please click on the letter below to download it:
