Finding Mum (and Dad)

How emotional was watching the Channel 4 documentary ‘Finding Mum & Dad’* on Wednesday? I’m clearly at the bottom of what is going to be a very steep learning curve. Whilst the new activity days have been deemed successful & are being rolled out, a decision that I fully support, I hadn’t thought about the heartache that would be felt by the children, and their foster families, that are being left behind: those three gorgeous, happy, fun loving little boys, how could you not want them? I’ll remind myself of this when, hopefully, it comes to my ‘matching’!

As you can probably tell, I am at the beginning; I’ve just started out on stage one. I’ve filled out forms, answered many questions, completed my chronology & ecomap (outlining the support you have/expect to receive from friends/family/neighbours etc), met with my social worker a couple of times, introduced myself to neighbours I hadn’t met before but who have recently adopted themselves (I’ll be picking their brains!) & next week I’ll be attending my 1st workshop.

*If you missed it I recommending watching it on Channel 4 4oD, aired on Wednesday 15th January 2014.
