We are delighted to announce that legendary Olympic Gold Medallist and adoptive parent Tessa Sanderson CBE will be attending our annual conference!

Tessa will share how she aims to raise the profile of Adoption UK through her ambassadorial role and will also take part in a Q&A with attendees.

Broadcaster, adoptee and fellow Adoption UK Ambassador, Nicky Campbell OBE has also recently confirmed that he will also be attending, and contributing to, our annual conference. More to follow.

In addition: an introduction from Dr Sue Armstrong Brown our new chief executive, who will share her reflections on her first six months at Adoption UK and outline her vision for the future.

“I’m hoping to meet as many of our members as possible at this year’s annual conference and share with you my vision for the  future of the organisation. I’ll outline how I aim to build on our organisation’s tremendous reputation as ‘the voice of adopters’ and bring about systematic change for the better, for all adoptive families across the UK.

The theme of this year’s annual conference is education. Adoptive parents tell us their children are regularly penalised at school because of a lack of understanding about their complex needs. We know adopted children’s early childhood experiences can often lead to behavioural, physical and emotional difficulties which play out in a school environment. In a recent survey of our members 80% told us their children need more support in school.
