This role will be suited to an adoptive parent who is familiar with current adoption issues and has excellent networking skills to create opportunities for adoptive parents to be included and share theirAdopter Voice.

The Advisory Board Champion will attend the quarterly face to face meetings where possible, (or possibly via video link). The AAB Champions will provide a summary of the adopters input and views and present those views to the rest of the AAB. As a group the AAB will then agree what reasonable recommendations should be made as well as feedback other emerging topics that adopters believe need addressing by the agency. The AAB This truly is two-way engagement and communication between families and leaders to improve practice and services.

Purpose of the role

  • To develop and create networks for adopters to share their Adopter Voice
  • To seek views of your adopter networks, at quarterly intervals, for the purpose of sharing at
    AAB meetings.
  • To collate information from networks of adopters across (typically) a Local Authority area,
    within a Regional Adoption Agency
  • To share a summary of views from Adopter Voice Champions, stating the most prevalent
    views of the adopters, collate all views to present at the Adopter Advisory Board (AAB)
    Champion and share report with AAB Chairperson within specified time frames
  • To attend video link meetings, with a purpose to discuss, monitor and develop engagement
    activities across the regions

Duties and responsibilities

  • To network and champion to represent adopter views, hold engagement activity in the
    Regional Adoption Agency area
  • To have excellent communication and ability to host/facilitate forums.
  • To work with the Adopter Advisory Board members to generate engagement activity in the
    Regional Adoption Agency area
  • To liaise and communicate with the Adopter Advisory Board Champions to share the views
    collated
  • To record the number of adopters, means of engagement and area covered to the AAB
    Champion for the purpose of the contract delivery data reviews
  • To comply with Adoption UK’s health and safety, equal opportunities, child/vulnerable adult
    protection, data protection, confidentiality, promote inclusivity and other policies

The Champion roles will be located in the following areas:

  • Together 4 Children -   5 Adopter Voice Champions all areas 
  • Family Adoption Link -  4 Adopter Voice Champions  
  • Adoption West -  3 Adopter Voice Champions -ideally comms, BANES and North Somerset 
  • Adoption East Midlands - 3 Adopter Voice Champions 
  • Adoption East - 6 Adopter voice Champions  
  • Adoption South West - 2 Adopter voice Champions  
  • Adoption @Heart - 6 Adopter voice Champions  

Please note you will not be able to start volunteering with us until we have satisfactory references, proof of identity and an enhanced DBS

Appointments are subject to Adoption UK receiving an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service, Proof of Identity and two references, which we consider acceptable.

  • Interviews on either Monday 16th or Tuesday 17th December
