This role will be suited to an adoptive parent who is familiar with current adoption issues, and has excellent report writing skills to create opportunities for adoptive parents to be included and share their Adopter Voice. Excellent communication and ability to host/facilitate will be necessary for this role.

The Advisory Board Chairperson will host quarterly face to face meetings where possible, (or possibly via video link). The AAB Champions will provide the AAB Chairperson with a summary of the adopters input and views and present those views to the rest of the AAB. As a group the AAB will then agree what reasonable recommendations should be made as well as feedback other emerging topics that adopters believe need addressing by the agency. The AAB Chairperson will collate a report to share with the Regional Adoption Agency (RAA) and other stakeholders. The AAB This truly is two-way engagement and communication between families and leaders to improve practice and services.

Purpose of the role

  • To manage and coordinate the Adoption Advisory Board (AAB) and monitor local
    engagement his/her allocated Regional Adoption Agency (RRA).
  • To represent Adopter Voice at management boards within the RAA.
  • To Chair the meetings of the AAB and invite to attend or provide summary reports to the
  • To collate information from networks of adopters across (typically) a Local Authority area,
    within a Regional Adoption Agency
  • To receive summary reports from Adopter Voice Champions, stating the most prevalent
    views of the adopters, collate all views that are present at the Adopter Advisory Board (AAB)
    within specified time frames
  • To attend video link meetings, with a purpose to discuss, monitor and develop engagement
    activities across the region

Duties and responsibilities

  • To promote partnership and collaborative working with the Adopter Voice Champions, the
    Regional Adoption Agency leaders and other Voluntary Adoption Agencies
  • communicate effectively and clearly with staff at Adoption UK’s and promote our services
    when the opportunity arises.
  • To provide feedback and evaluation on the delivery of the contract to the Contracts Delivery
    Manager for the purpose of reporting to the RAA/LA
