Monday – Friday 10am – 2.30pm

Our dedicated Wales Helpline is available for adopters, prospective adopters, kinship carers, special guardians, adopted people and all those who support them as part of their personal and professional networks.

Our helpline advisers offer practical suggestions, information and encouragement, or can point you in the right direction for specialist help. Wherever you are in the process, whatever family life throws at you, make our helpline your first port of call.

Our Helpline is available to call Monday to Friday 10am – 2.30pm (Excluding Bank Holidays) on 0300 666 0006.

You can also leave a voicemail and we can call you back. Calls can be conducted in Welsh if requested.

We can help with such issues as:

  • How do I start the adoption process
  • My child is asking so many questions about their life before placement
  • I’m interested to trace my birth family
  • School staff are struggling to understand my child’s behaviours
  • Why won’t my child sleep
  • How can my adopted teenager engage with other adopted young people
  • My child is constantly telling fantastical lies
  • My teenager struggles with friendships

Any adoption-related challenge or difficulty you would like to discuss, we will always do our best to help and support. We are always available to just listen if you feel like a chat, or sharing your experiences – good or otherwise.

Our helpline advisers are Adoption UK staff and trained volunteers; most are adoptive parents and all have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. We also have a Wales-specific series of factsheets on FAQS, available to send via email.
