Following our recent OFSTED inspection, we're pleased that Adoption UK has been rated as Good for our services in England

This is the first time the charity has required an OFSTED inspection since recommencing direct therapeutic work with families in England in 2020.

The inspectors concluded that the services we provide have a significant impact on the lives of the prospective adopters and adoptive families that we work with, and that our service beneficiaries are very positive about the support we provide. Areas they considered particularly strong included:

  • Our passionate and committed team of staff and volunteers;
  • The valuable expertise provided by our PATH team of in-house clinicians;
  • The supportive way we engage with families;
  • Putting lived experience at the heart of decision making, for example through the Adoption Barometer.

The inspectors’ report acknowledges that although historically, Adoption UK focused primarily on work with adopters, we are now developing support services for adoptees.

The inspection found that we need to improve some of our systems and processes, and they recognised that we know what we need to do and that we have a clear plan in place to tighten up these systems and provide stronger evidence of the quality of the support we provide.
