Adoption UK is proud to be partnering with Voice In A Million for their 2020 concerts. We have been working together for a number of years and we know what an amazing impact participation in this event has for all students taking part.

This year we are asking all schools who are involved in VIAM to help us raise funds to support the work Adoption UK does in schools and local communities around the UK.
This includes providing resources, training and up-to-date information about the difficulties that adopted children can face in schools. We also run a network of local community groups, led by experienced volunteer adopters, around the UK connecting Adoptive Families together so they feel less isolated, share experiences and form new lasting friendships.

How can your school get involved?

  • There are lots of ways to get involved and support Adoption UK and whatever your school can do to raise vital funds would be amazing. We've outlined some suggestions of fundraising ideas below, but we'd love you to get creative and do your own thing too.
  • We can help you out - there are some downloadable resources below, such as sponsor forms, template posters, letters and the link to our special VIAM Just Giving page where you can upload your donations and tell us what your school has been doing.
  • As well as the Just Giving page - donations can also be collected via our Text-to-donate system. Simply text the word VIAM to: 70085 to donate £5. This costs £5 plus a standard rate message. Alternatively if you want to donate more or less than £5 text VIAM  and the amount, for example: VIAM £15 will make a one-off £15 donation, plus a standard rate message.
  • You can also send us the money raised by calling us on: 01295 752240 to pay by debit card or send us a cheque in the post.

Fundraising ideas:

  1. Put on a show... Why not get your school choir to stage a Christmas concert for parents and students to come and listen to your beautiful voices. This is a perfect way to keep practicing for VIAM while at the same time showcasing your talents and raising some money for Adoption UK. You could charge an entrance fee, or have a bucket collection during the performance.
  2. Hold a Christmas raffle... Everyone loves a raffle and at Christmas time people are looking for an extra gift or two for their loved ones, so why not gather some prizes and sell tickets to parents and students in aid of Adoption UK.
  3. Have a Non-Uniform day... You might want to have a non-uniform day before school breaks up for Christmas, or if the schedule is just too busy, why not hold one in January to beat those new year blues. Get all your students to donate a small amount to come in to school dressed in whatever they want, or theme the day like - a musical hero fancy dress day, or wear Orange - the Adoption UK brand colours...
  4. Have a sponsored Sing... Get members of your school choir to spend a whole day singing songs, they could take it in turns and do 30 minutes slots, but ensure the singing keeps going all day and get students and parents to sponsor them to keep going all day.
  5. Get children to fill a smarty tube with 20 pence pieces and bring the full tubes back to school.

The ideas are endless and this is just to get you going, we're sure you could come up with some even better ideas.

Every pound raised will help to support Adoption UK's school and community projects throughout the UK.

All VIAM schools will get 25% off Adoption UK school membership for their first 12 months and 25% off family membership for any parents with adopted children at your school for their first 12 months too. To get this great offer just email: [email protected] and quote 'VIAM School.'
