Join established adopters in the Cardiff area for virtual evening meetings, in-person meet ups and family events.
New attendees welcome.
The volunteer co-ordinator for the Cardiff group is Tessa.
Tessa is an adoptive parent; she and her partner adopted their son when he was just 9 months old. “The past 11 years have been both the most wonderful and the most challenging of our lives, but we wouldn’t change a thing!”. Tessa and her partner also have a biological daughter.
Tessa and her family enjoy holidays in their touring caravan to the South of France, but Tenby remains their firm favourite. Tessa works in education, and in her spare time enjoys walking the dog, going to the theatre, family BBQs and going to the park.
Tessa decided to volunteer for Adoption UK after attending another group with the charity. Tessa has shared that “they have truly been a lifeline for me, they offer understanding, listening, empathy, and celebration, and they’ve been there for me when I needed support the most.” Tessa shared that she wanted to offer something similar for families in Cardiff that created a safe and supportive space for people to connect, share experiences and feel less alone. Tessa hopes to organise a mix of informal adult meet-ups, as well as relaxed, fun gatherings in the park for children and families to come together.
The Cardiff community group offers space for a friendly chat (no judgement here) and a group where we can all celebrate the small wins with people who just 'get it'!
