Workshop description
This joint conference, run in partnership with the British Association for Adoption and Fostering (BAAF), will focus on the importance of helping adopters work on their relationship with their adoptive child(ren) and of early interventions for adoptive families to prevent more significant difficulties arising.

This workshop will enable parents and carers to
- Look at the legal framework for adoption support assessments and give examples of the range of services that can be offered
- Hear from adopters about the impact of adoption support they have received
- Consider the role of different parenting programmes for adopters, for example KEEP
- Explore the use filial therapy when establishing adoption placements
- Look at how local authorities can work effectively with CAMHS and Education services
- Learn from messages from adopted young people about the role of contact in supporting adoption
