Workshop description

This one-day workshop, run in partnership with PBM Training and Consultancy, is aimed at educational practitioners who have responsibility for, or contact with, vulnerable or traumatised children and young people.

It is designed to help participants to examine and understand the issues that arise in schools as a result of the separation, loss and trauma experienced by pupils who have been adopted, are ‘looked after’. It is also applicable to those pupils whose parents have separated or are divorced, and those pupils who have experienced the loss of a parent.

Who should attend?

  • Education practitioners (teachers, social workers, care workers, therapists, health visitors etc)

This workshop will enable education practitioners to

  • Examine some of the possible causes of behavioural problems and school-related difficulties.
  • Consider how behavioural difficulties impact on relationships, teaching and learning in the classroom.
  • Develop effective strategies for supporting the child in school.

Method of delivery

This workshop is participative and interactive, balancing theory with practical exercises. It provides parents with the opportunity to consider how they can put their learning into practice.

Our professional Adoption UK Trainers are adoptive parents and can provide a unique perspective into living with hurt children.
