Adoption UK Agency Membership

At Adoption UK we are ideally placed to work with you, to give your adopters the best possible support in the most challenging of roles, doing one of the most challenging and worthwhile things they will ever do. This page provides a detailed breakdown of the huge range of benefits agency membership of Adoption UK offers you and your adopters.

Agency membership is available at two different rates. Voluntary agencies with an income of less than £1m and local authorities with a population of less than 100,000 can access the lower rate; other local authorities and voluntary agencies will access the higher rate.

This year, we are providing more free magazines with your membership so that more of your colleagues can benefit from the information we provide. We also have a brand new benefit - each agency will receive a set of preparation packs for their prospective adopters. Rates and benefits are detailed below.

All agencies, regardless of which rate they pay, will then be able to access discounted rates for funding additional families. Funding Children Who Wait gives a discount of £9 per family!

Many agencies start by offering the full package in the first year and then Adoption Today only in subsequent years when prospective adopters have had a placement. To discuss the most suitable arrangements for your agency, just contact the Membership Manager.

In addition to your free magazines, free individual memberships and discounted individual memberships, other benefits to agency membership include:

Ten or five preparation packs (depending which rate you pay) to give out to your prospective adopters during their preparation - new this year!
Six or three free copies of Adoption Today and Children Who Wait (depending which rate you pay). One of these will go to your Adoption Support Services Adviser (or equivalent post in Scotland and Northern Ireland)
Discounted rate off additional magazines for social workers of either £31 or £52 per person per year, depending on whether they wish to receive both magazines or Adoption Today only (full rate £45 or £73)

Find families - Children Who Wait

Adoption UK monthly family finding magazine Children Who Wait features profiles of children currently looking for new families and is a cost effective way of reaching over 3,000 prospective adopters.

More than 30 per cent of children featured in Children Who Wait elicit suitable enquiries. Agencies use us repeatedly due to our competitive rates and friendly, flexible service.

Further details such as extra photos, information and videos of children can be made available to adopters to give them a fuller picture of a child, through our additional service Children Who Wait Online.

Agency Newsletter

Sent out bimonthly by email to adoption and fostering agencies, our agency newsletter gives details of new services we are providing, changes in what we offer and up and coming events.

Adoption support for your adoptive families

We can provide your adopters with a range of essential support services. These include access to a Helpline and our vibrant Online Community; a Buddy to support them in the early days of placement; a Parent Consultant if families are going through a particularly difficult time; local support groups; and email or phone contact with other adopters.

Training for you and your adopters

Adoption UK offers a wide range of workshops for adoptive parents, prospective adopters and professionals covering Contact, School and Education Issues, Parental Substance Misuse, Telling About Adoption and more.

Our award-winning six-day parent support programme, 'It's a Piece of Cake?' will give your adopters and long term foster carers a fresh approach to parenting hurt children, helping to minimise family distress, placement disruption and breakdown.

And our Insight and Strategies two-day workshop is designed for practitioners to find out about the realities of life in an adoptive or foster family, and how you can support parents and carers living with hurt children.

Adoption Today magazine

Our bimonthly magazine packed with information, articles, updates and details of services is a fantastic way of keeping up to date with the world of adoption.

As well as features on real families' experiences, it includes a roundup of adoption in the media and a rundown of the latest research findings.

Publications and adoption cards

Where else would you find a comprehensive range of adoption cards, as well as essential publications for adopters and professionals working in the field of adoption? Must haves include Adoption Law for Adopters, Guiding You Through the Adoption Process, Adoption Now and Adoption Now 2 - both packed full of features from authoritative voices from the adoption community, such as Dan Hughes, Kate Cairns and many others.
