Adoption UK members have free use of our fantastic lending library, stocked with specialist titles about adoption and adoptive parenting.
The library is free for members to use, just pay the cost of the postage and packing and you can borrow an item for up to three weeks.
New titles are being added all the time, covering all aspects of the adoption process. They include:
- For prospective adopters - Lindsey Dunbar’s Making Introductions explains how to make introductions as successful as possible, by ensuring child and family are properly prepared.
- For parents with young children Helping Children with Fear and Teenie Weenie in a Too Big World – by hugely popular parenting specialist Margot Sunderland, is both a guidebook for parents and a storybook for children.
- Life Story Books for Adopted Children by Joy Rees, is a new family-friendly way to compile a Life Story Book that promotes a sense of permanency and encourages attachments.
- To help children build relationships the DVD Theraplay with an Angry Controlling Child, published by the Theraplay Institute, provides an introduction to this unique approach.
- For parents of teenagers, specialist Gregory Keck’s Parenting Adopted Adolescents: Understanding and Appreciating Their Journeys will provide practical ways for parents with an adopted adolescent.
