As well as supporting families directly, we also work with agencies and practitioners to make our services accessible to the families they support.
Adoption UK’s Family Support Service can help make adoptions work, either by offering support early in the process or by stepping in when things have reached crisis-point and the family faces disruption. All of the support we offer is child focused. What makes our support unique is that we are able to help children by supporting the parents who are key to their child’s recover. The service we offer is delivered by professional, highly trained and appropriately qualified people, who have the added benefit of being adoptive parents. Our Helpline Advisers are here to support, provide information and signpost to other organisations. A Family Support Buddy can make all the difference, providing families with guidance during the early stages of placement. If things are really tough, one of our Family Support Consultants can help families explore their situation and support needs whilst helping them make sense of their child’s current behaviour.

Adoption UK’s monthly family finding magazine Children Who Wait features profiles of children currently looking for new families and is a cost effective way of reaching over 3,000 prospective adopters.
More than 30 per cent of children featured in Children Who Wait elicit suitable enquiries. Agencies use us repeatedly due to our competitive rates and friendly, flexible service.
Further details such as extra photos, information and videos of children can be made available to adopters to give them a fuller picture of a child, through our additional service Children Who Wait Online.
Whether members or non-members of Adoption UK, practitioners can enrol on Adoption UK’s specially-designed practitioner training course.
The two-day workshop, ‘Insight and Strategies’, gives practitioners a deeper understanding of life in an adoptive or long-term foster family and teaches them the best strategies for supporting parents caring for children from the care system.
